Quick Buying Tips
- Check for RAM clearances, MAINLY FOR AIR COOLERS. Massive, dual-tower air coolers tend to block the RAM slots preventing the installation of tall RAM sticks
- Then you should pick up an air cooler. Air coolers are prevalent for a reason, you can find an air cooler on par with 240MM AIOs for a fraction of the price. 240MM AIO cooling power is more than enough to cool an I7 9700K
- More fans mean better cooling but more noise.
- Ensure that you can control RGB settings; changing the mode and turning it off. This can usually be done through the cooler’s software.
- If you’re going for a mid-high overclock get a decent air or AIO cooler. If you’re wondering if AIO Coolers are safe, check out this article. The NH-D15, & Dark Rock Pro 4 can overclock pretty well, as for AIO coolers a 240MM+ AIO will suffice.

|Dimensions(HWD)||165mm x 150mm x 161mm|
The Noctua NH-D15 is an old but powerful and well respected CPU Cooler. Released back in 2014 and is heavily based on the award-winning NH-D14.
Noctua created premium products for customers that want excellent cooling that operated almost completely silent. They’re not big in the CPU cooling industry, but they make products with the customer in mind.
Why should you buy the Noctua NH-D15?
If you’re looking for an air cooler that is silent & can overclock well, then the Noctua NH-D15 is the best choice for you.
This is an air cooler on par with some of the top of the range water coolers, so you know you’re able to get a sufficient overclock with this cooler.
The silence comes from the premium Noctua fans, some dislike the colors (brown & beige), but it does offer a quiet experience when using it.
The potential to overclock with this cooler is definitely there. If this cooler cannot handle an overclock with the I7 9700k, then I don’t know another air cooler that can.
Features of the be quiet! Dark Rock 4

The cooler also features a low resistance radiator which allows for higher flow rate and heat exchange.
Instead of using nylon sleeves on the tubes, they used double tubing to keep the same flexibility whilst also increasing durability
Why should you buy the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240R
I have to admit, this CPU cooler at first glance seems way too heavy on the RGB side of things, but it actually performs pretty well and it is easy to install.
This cooler also comes at a reasonable price, cheaper than most liquid AIO’s on this list, plus it has decent cooling to top it all off. This cooler is plenty for the i7 9700K and you can overclock pretty well with it.
However I do see how this cooler may not be for everyone, the RGB may seem too excessive to some, and RGB is not for everyone. I suggest only picking this cooler up if you intend on utilizing all the RGB features it has to offer since it’s everywhere on this cooler.
Features of the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360
|Intel Compatibility List||1150 / 1151 / 1155 / 2011 / 2011-V3 / 2066|

Arctic developed a new fan design called F12 with CFD (Computer fluid dynamics) and has been adjusted to have efficient airflow.
Why should you buy the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360
This liquid cooler very large, but compensates by having exceptionally good cooling performance. It performs better than coolers like the Noctua D15 I wouldn’t buy this cooler unless my case is large enough to fit it in.
If a cooler performs even close to the Noctua D15, then cooling the 9700K overclocked is painless. You should achieve stable temperatures with a cooler like the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360.
Despite having 6 fans, the Arctic Liquid Freezer 360 actually performs pretty quiet peaking at 32dBA.
The black and white design looks clean overall despite having no RGB. If you’re not super into RGB then you can’t go wrong with this cooler.
